On August 25, 2024, the Most Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto traveled to Etobicoke, Ont. to celebrate Mass and meet parishioners of Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish.

“The Archbishop’s visit to a parish and the community is a time of grace and celebration,” Fr. Carlos Sierra Tobon, Pastor of the parish told parishioners in his message published in the parish bulletin. “It is a special event in the life of a parish; an opportunity to invite the lay faithful to a renewal of Christian life and for the priests to follow in his direction and authority.”

In referencing the capacity crowd at the Mass, Fr. Carlos continued highlighting the enthusiasm the parish felt in welcoming Archbishop Leo, “Today the presence of the faithful, in large numbers, filled with joy and exultation, shows the great hope they have in the new Archdiocesan Pastor.”

Fr. Carlos concluded with a message directed toward His Grace, “Dear Archbishop Francis, you can count on we, the priests and the community at large. We have been praying for you and we will continue with strength and desire all the more.”

After the Mass celebration, the parishioners gathered together outside for refreshments supplied by the Knights of Columbus, The Blessed Iwene Tasni Igbo Catholic Community, The Holy Family Coptic Catholic Church Community and the Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish Community.
